Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year for 2016. Whatever has happened cannot be changed – decisions were made, consequences happened. New Years can be a great time to clean the slate – look ahead, make plans and set new goals. I love it when people say “I want to live a decluttered life” but how do you know when you have achieved that goal? How do you measure success?
You have probably heard of the SMART goal setting theory but I know one better that will help you be a true goal setting SMARTIE.
S – specific
M – measurable
A – attainable
R – relevant
T – timely
I – inspired
E – emotion
S – successful
I learnt the last 3 points from my mother in law and I love them. It is so important to have INSPIRATION and EMOTION behind the motivation for setting your goals. These will help to drive you and sustain your enthusiasm until you are SUCCESSFUL in reaching your goals.
So let’s rephrase that Decluttering goal the “smarties” way….
For each month of 2016 I will focus on one area of my home and declutter 5 items per week to help my space feel more clear and calm so I can feel less stressed, distracted, overwhelmed, time wasting ( whatever your emotion is).
This goal can be clarified further with each month being allocated with a different space, pictures saved for inspiration, etc. Whatever you decide to do make your goals yours – not what you think other people will think is good for you.
